The hiking tours in our region are, first of all, diverse, secondly, truly rewarding, and thirdly, possible all year round. Both in summer and winter, the owners of our alpine huts spoil their guests on the pastures with traditional alpine and farmhouse dishes. A highlight is the famous South Tyrolean Brettljause, served with homemade speck, smoked sausages, and homemade cheese.
Cross-country skiing in the Gsies Valley and its surroundings is a real insider tip for lovers of this sport. The wide, sunny valley floor is perfect for gliding through the pristine valley on more than 50 km of trails. Through snow-covered forests, past picturesque farmhouses and typical inns that invite you to take a delightful break.
Welsberg, Taisten, and the Gsies Valley provide the ideal base for a ski vacation in the Puster Valley. In addition to three village lifts in Taisten, Pichl, and St. Magdalena, the Kronplatz and the 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski area are in close proximity.
In addition to cross-country skiing and downhill skiing, tobogganing and ice skating are other winter activities. There are two natural ice rinks and the artificial ice rink in Monguelfo with continuous ice available for ice skating.
